Biography

Charles Jacobus was known as the father of American roque, although he won only one national title in the sport in 1885. He was, however, editor for many years of Spalding’s Annual Roque Guide, and he was responsible for organizing the 1904 Olympic roque tournament. Jacobus was from Springfield, Massachusetts.
