Biography

Joe Blewitt was a versatile athlete whose Championship victories covered a remarkable variety of distances. He was AAA Champion at 4 miles three times (1920, 1923, 1925), 10 miles (1921), and the steeplechase (1924), and he was the winner of nine Midland Championships at distances ranging from 880y to 10 miles. He also represented England five times in the International Cross-Country Championships and in 1923 he was the English National and International Champion. Joe Blewitt ran in the 1920 and 1928 Olympics but withdrew at the last minute from the 1924 Olympic steeplechase because of injury.
