Charles AESCHLIMANN

Charles Aeschlimann played Davis Cup for Switzerland from 1923-34, appearing in 19 ties with a record of 24 wins and 26 losses. He played at Wimbledon seven times between 1926 and 1938, five times in singles (1926-36), with a best result of reaching the third round in 1926. He also reached the fourth round at the French Open in 1927 and 1928. Aeschlimann won several minor tournaments, including the 1924 Cote d'Azur Championships, and the Juan-Les-Pins Invitational in 1930 and 1931. In 1924 he married Leslie Bancroft, who was ranked #2 in the US in 1922. They settled in Europe and Bancroft virtually abandoned her playing career.
