Biography

Cathy Thaxton-Tippett rowed at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, finishing sixth both times in double sculls. She also was an alternate to the 1976 Olympic team, and made the 1980 Olympic team that did not compete. Thaxton-Tippett rowed in college at Stanford, graduating in 1979. She also competed at the 1977, 1979, and 1983 World Championships. Thaxton-Tippett became a teacher and earned a masters’ degree in education from Northern Arizona in 2000. She later taught in the Salmon School District in Idaho.
