Carlos Nuzman was a professional volleyball player, competing from 1957-72 and playing on the Brazilian national team from 1962-68, including at the 1964 Olympics. He served as President of the Brazilian Volleyball Federation (CBV) from 1975-95. He has also been President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, from 1995-2012, and a member of the Pan American Sports Organization. His profession has been as a lawyer.
Nuzman was made a member of the IOC in 2000 in his role as NOC President, serving until 2012. Nuzman led the bid to obtain the 2016 Olympics for Rio de Janeiro and has been the director of the 2016 Organizing Committee.
