Biography

Carl Cooke was a sprinter/long jumper for The Ohio State University, the Chicago AA, and the Cleveland AC. He was runner-up in the AAU 220 y in 1911 and 1913. While a student at Columbus North High School, Cooke set a state record in the shot put and won four events at the Ohio state high school championships. At Ohio State, Cooke also played football in 1910.

After competing in Stockholm, Cooke withdrew from OSU and joined his father’s bridge building company, Fritz-Rumer-Cooke Company, eventually becoming president. He remained active in track and field by serving as an official at high school meets.

Personal Bests: 100y – 10.0 (1911); 200 – 21.6 (1912); LJ – 6.54 (21-5½) (1912).
