Biography

Calvin Stamp was a heavyweight weightlifter who competed for Jamaica at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. Stamp was a five-time medalist at the Pan American Games, winning a silver medal in the 1983 110 kg class clean & jerk, and adding a bronze in the total that year. In 1987 he won bronze medals in both lifts and the total. He also competed at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.

Stamp settled in the United States, near Atlanta, where he worked as a weightlifting coach and a consultant to XPO Logistics. He also coached the throws in track & field at Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, and tutored many students. He died in a car accident in Atlanta.
