Biography

Bruno Trojani was one of the victims of his own strategy to increase the inrun for the second round of the ski jumping event 1928 in St. Moritz. He fell and dropped from 24th position to 32nd in the final result. In the same year, he jumped 71 m and two weeks later 72 m on the Hill in Pontresina. With these distances, he was not only the first European to jump beyond 70 m, but also bettered the world record in ski flying. At the 1929 World Championships he finished 12th in the jumping, achieving the best result of the Swiss athletes. Nationally, he won his only title in ski jumping in 1937. In 1946, he was still competing and was the first winner of the Montgomery Cup in Gstaad.
