Biography

Along with Beryl Bailey, Barbara Wyatt was a reserve for the 1948 Winter Olympics but had to wait until 1952 before making her début. Wyatt appeared in the World Championships every year 1949-52 with fifth place finishes n 1951 and 1952 being her best results. She appeared in every European Championships from 1947-52 and finished third in each of the latter two years, behind Jeannette Altwegg and Jacqueline du Bief (France) on each occasion. Despite being runner-up to Altwegg three times in the British Championships, Wyatt never won the title. She retired from competitive skating in 1953 and toured Britain and Europe performing in ice shows and revues. She also married Leaman Hardy in 1953, and their son Mark played in the NHL for 15 seasons, and represented Canada in the 1986 World Ice Hockey Championships.
