At the 1908 and 1912 Olympics Norling won gold medals in team gymnastics. His brother, Daniel Norling, also won team gymnastics gold medals in 1908 and 1912, and then won another gold medal in equestrian show jumping team at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics.
