Biography

Arthur McAleenan attended Yale and also represented the New York Athletic Club. He was a three-time US diving champion, winning the indoor springboard title in 1913 and 1915-16. In World War I McAleenan served as a flying instructor. Shortly after the War, McAleenan had lunch at the New York AC with fellow Olympians Stephen Ruddy and Ted Cann. After the dinner they took a cab which was involved in an accident. While Ruddy and Cann were not injured, McAleenan was mortally wounded and died a few days after the accident.
