Toni Kehle was an ice hockey goalie who played at EV Füssen, becoming West German Champion with them in 1968, 1969, 1971 and 1973. For the West German national team he played 115 matches, taking part in the 1972 (seventh) and 1976 (winning sensationally the bronze medal) Winter Olympics, as well as the 1976 and 1977 World Championships, and was later inducted into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame. Kehle died from cancer at the age of 50. Since the early 1980s the “Toni-Kehle-Cup” has been awarded yearly to the best goalie in the Bundesliga.
