Biography

Annette Sikveland grew up in Ålgård, a village with 9000 inhabitants 30 km to the south of Stavanger. Her breakthrough came in 1994, when she was Norwegian champion in the sprint and earned a place on the Norwegian biathlon team for the Lillehammer Olympics. She won three international championship medals in the relay for Norway\: bronze at the 1995 World Championships and sliver in 1997, adding her bronze at the 1998 Winter Olympics, after which she retired from competition. Sikveland won three national titles, adding two more in 1996 and 1997. Her only World Cup victory came at Ruhpolding at 1997.

Annette Sikveland lived for a period in Germany, along with biathlon Olympic champion Sven Fischer. She later settled in Kristiansand, working as a comptroller in a communication/advertising company.
