Biography

A native Bolognan, Angelo Schiavio played his entire career for Bologna FC. As a striker, he played more than 300 matches for the "Rossoblù", including 179 in the Serie A. In the period period Schiavio played for them (1922-1939), Bologna won 4 league titles, and twice the prestigious Mitropa Cup, a competition between Central European clubs. Schiavio was also a regular with the Italian national team, winning 21 caps while scoring 15 goals. With the "Azzurri", he won a bronze medal at the 1928 Olympics, and played for the Italian side that won the 1934 World Cup. On both tournaments, Schiavio scored four times, including a hattrick against the United States at the World Cup. In the 1950s, Schiavio returned to the national team as one of the selectors between 1953 and 1958.
