Biography

Sprinter Andrea Philipp participated in three consecutive Olympic Games from 1992-2000 in the 100 and with the sprint relay. Reaching the relay final twice, she finished fifth in 1992 and sixth in 2000. She was among the world’s best sprinters in the late 1990s and early 2000s, winning a 1999 World Championship bronze medal in the 200 metres. At the 1998 Europeans she won a silver medal with the sprint relay. She also started at several European and World Cups. After German reunification she won German titles in the 100 in 1997 and 1999, in the 200 in 1999 and 200, with the sprint relay 1996-2000, and indoors in the 60 m in 1999-2000, in the 4x200 in 1997 and 1999. In 2003, Philipp retired from athletics.
