Alexandra Trusova is a Russian figure skater who is the Beijing 2022 Olympic silver medallist (representing ROC), 2021 World Figure Skating Championships bronze medallist (representing FSR), and 2020 European Championships bronze medallist.
The 17-year-old is best known for her quadruple-jumping abilities. She was the first female to land each of the quad Lutz, flip and toe jumps in competition, and was also the first to land two – and then three – quads in a free skate.
The three-time Russian national medallist has three Grand Prix gold medals to her name, as well, and trains under Eteri Tutberidze, having briefly worked with Olympic gold medallist Evgeni Plushenko.
After years of hype around her and her "quad squad" teammates, Trusova made her Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, competing in the women's event after being passed over for the team event.
In the short program, Trusova fell on a triple Axel attempt, finishing in a disappointing fourth place. However, she picked herself up in the free skate. Opting against the triple Axel, she instead packed five quadruple jumps into her free routine, landing three of them cleanly to score a personal best 177.13 points in the segment for a total of 251.73 and win silver.
