Biography

At Antwerpen in 1920 Åge Lundström won individual silver and team gold in eventing. At Paris in 1924, he added a gold medal in team jumping. In 1914 he had been Swedish Champion in foil fencing.

Lundström was commissioned as an officer in 1910 and was appointed lieutenant in the King’s Own Regiment’s Dragoons in 1916. From 1919-21 he was a teacher at the riding school in Strömsholm. In 1924 he became a field aviator and was appointed a captain in the Air Force in 1926. The same year he became a teacher at the Army flight school and acted as the school’s commander from 1932-43. He was then head of the 2nd flight squadron, and was promoted to the rank of Major General. In 1948 Lundström was appointed Chief of Staff of the United Nations delegation in Palestine.
