Biografie

Vladlen Trostianskiy took up wrestling in 1951 and rose to be the second best Soviet bantamweight Greco-Roman wrestler at the start of the 1960s. During most of his career, Trostianskiy was under the shadow of another Soviet, Oleg Karavayev, and only got his chance to represent Soviet Union internationally in 1964 after Karavayev’s retirement. During his career, Trostianskiy competed at two major international tournaments, the 1964 Olympics, where he won silver, and the 1966 Worlds, where he was fifth. Domestically, Trostianskiy won two Soviet titles in 1961 (in Karavayev’s absence) and in 1966, earning silver in 1962-65 and 1968. After finishing his sporting career, Trostianskiy worked as a wrestling coach in his native Ukraine and became the president of Wrestling Federation of the Kyiv region.
