Biografie

A cross-country skier out of the Quebec City Ski Club, Tom Dennie had been winning regional championships throughout much of the 1940s prior to his attendance at the 1947 Canadian Olympic trials, where he won the first race and assured himself a spot on Canada’s 1948 cross-country delegation. At the Winter Games he placed 73rd in a field of 84 competitors in the 18km event and did not finish the 50km race, but this was merely a hiccup in an otherwise successful career. Among his many national victories were the 1949 Central Canada Cross-Country Ski Championships and the 30km relay race at the 1951 National Championships (alongside Alex Alain and 1952 Olympian Jacques Carbonneau). Outside of skiing he worked as a chauffeur and also competed successfully, alongside his brother Jim, in several international snowshoe tournaments.
