Biografie

Sébastien Amiez came to international attention in 1991 when he was runner-up in the World Juniors in the slalom. Amiez was a slalom specialist and his greatest year was the 1995-96 season when he won one World Cup slalom, at Veysonnez in Switzerland, had four podium finishes, and won the slalom World Cup title for the season. In all, he had 10 race podiums in the World Cup. Amiez also won a silver medal in the slalom at the 2002 Winter Olympics and at the 1997 World Championships. He was a four-time French slalom champion, winning in 1994, 1996, 1999, and 2001. In March 2006 Amiez was badly injured in a fight, losing all sight in his right eye. He continued to compete, but retired after the 2006-07 season. He later became a popular commentator on French television for ski events, working with the Dream Team of commentators at RMC.
