Biografie

Roswietha Zobelt was a member of the East German gold medal winning coxed quadruple sculls at both the 1976 Montréal Olympics, when women’s rowing was on the agenda for the first time, and 1980 Moskva Games. In 1975 and 1979 she won the World Championships with the quadruple sculls, and in 1977 with the double sculls, partnering Anke Borchmann. In 1973 she also won the European Championships with the quadruple sculls.

Domestically, Zobelt won the East German nationals in 1977, with Borchmann in the double sculls, and with the quadruple sculls in 1975, 1978-79. Zobelt later became a physiotherapist. Her niece Stephanie Schneider became a bobsleigh pilot, and participated in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games.
