Biografie

Ray Weinberg was a high hurdler who ran at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics, also competing in both relay races in 1952. His greatest moment internationally came in winning silver in the high hurdles at the 1950 British Empire Games. He was a seven-time Australian champion, winning the 120 yd high hurdles in 1948 and 1950-53, and the 220 yd low hurdles in 1951-52. He also won the 1952 British AAA high hurdle championship.

Weinberg later went into coaching and administration. He was coach for Australia at the Pacific Conference Games in Tokyo in 1968 and served as senior national hurdles coach that year. He later served as a vice-president of the Victorian Amateur Athletic Association and as a state selector. He was foundation president of Athletics International in 1969 and served as Australian Track & Field Coaches Association (ATFCA) president from 1976-78. Weinberg also led the Athletics International Olympic Tours in 1972, 1976, and 1992, and became a Life Member of Athletics Australia in 2009.
