Biografie

Prem Nath studied wrestling under renowned Indian coach Guru Hanuman. Nath placed fourth at the 1972 Olympics in bantamweight freestyle, and received the Arjuna Award in India for that. In 1974, Nath won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. In 1976 Nath took over the akhara that had been established by Guru Baijnath in 1948 in the Kamla Nagar area, and ran it until 2004 when he handed it over to his son, Vikram Kumar. It is now known as the Guru Prem Nath akhara. Nath was a Delhi police officer, and received a President’s Medal for his good works and athletic fame.
