Biografie

Paddy Quinn first competed at the Irish Championships in 1910, winning the discus at Ballsbridge, Dublin. He eventually won 10 Irish titles, winning the discus in 1910, 1912-14, and 1921-22 and the shot in 1912-14 and 1921. At the British AAA Championships, he won the 1920 discus title and was second in the discus in 1914 and fourth in the shot put in 1913. In both 1914 and 1921 Quinn won the shot put at the triangular international between Ireland, Scotland, and England. He also won the shot put at the 1912 and 1913 Ireland vs. Scotland contests. Quinn was a member of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, joining at 20 years of age, and served in the DMP Band Division, as he was an accomplished musician, which gave him extra time to train. In his later years he was an Irish Racecourses Detective.

Personal Bests: SP – 13.46 (1912); DT – 40.38 (132-6) (1915).
