Ottomar Sachse was an East German light-heavyweight boxer who reached the quarter-finals at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. Four years earlier in München he lost his first round bout against Argentinean Miguel Ángel Cuello. In Montréal he lost to upcoming Olympic Champion from the US Leon Spinks. Domestically, Sachse won amateur national titles from 1971-73, and from 1975-77.
From 1970-75 Sachse won five consecutive Chemie-Cups in Halle an der Saale. At the European Championships he earned silver medals in 1971 and 1977, and bronze medals in 1973 and 1975. At the Worlds he won a bronze medal in 1974 at Havana. Sachse later became an entrepreneur in his home town Halle, and was also active as a sports administrator.
