Biografie

Born in a small town just outside Grenoble, Olivier Allamand was a member of the very successful French moguls skiing team at the 1992 Olympics. With freestyle skiing making its début at these Olympics, the host nation was close to a medal sweep. Favourite Edgar Grospiron was the clear winner, but the difference between 2nd and 4th was just 0.12 points. Allamand won the silver medal, mostly by merit of his superior turns technique. Active on the World Cup circuit since 1986, Allamand had his best season in 1990, when he placed second in both the overall World Cup and the moguls World Cup. He won a total of five World Cup events, and placed fifth at both the 1989 and 1991 World Championships. Having long suffered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, he retired after the Lillehammer Games. He later opened a sporting goods store in La Plagne, one of the Olympic towns of 1992.
