Biografie

The high point of Marjut Lukkarinen’s career was at the 1992 Winter Olympics, where she won gold in 5 km, silver in 15 km, was fourth in both pursuit and relay and 10th in 30 km. Lukkarinen also won bronze in 15 km at the 1993 World Championships and also took part in the 1991 World Championships and 1994 Winter Olympics, but did not medal in those competitions, although she had top ten finishes in both of them. In 1992 Lukkarinen was selected as the Finnish female athlete of the year. After finishing her sporting career, Lukkarinen, who has a nursing education, worked as a homeopath and zone therapist. Lukkarinen has also been a member of the Finnish Olympic Committee and Athletes' Commission.
