Biografie

Kalervo Rauhala won Greco-Roman middleweight silver at the 1952 Olympics and Greco-Roman middleweight bronze at the 1953 World Championships. He also competed at the 1955 World Championships but, after defeating his first opponent, had to withdraw from the competition due to a rib injury. Domestically, Rauhala won eight Finnish titles: in 1951-52, 1955 and 1957 in Greco-Roman middleweight and in 1953-55 and 1958 in freestyle middleweight. His brother Veikko was a national level wrestler and his nephews Jukka and Pekka represented Finland in wrestling at the Olympic Games, with Jukka winning a bronze medal in freestyle lightweight at the 1984 Olympics.
