Biografie

Jan Jaskólski's triple jumping career coincided with that of compatriot Józef Szmidt, who captured the Olympic titles of 1960 and 1964. Szmidt prevented Jaskólski from ever winning a Polish title, finishing runner up 7 times in the triple jump (1960, 1963-64, 1966-69), as well as once in the long jump (1962). In his two appearances at the European Championships (1962 and 1966), Jaskólski was unfortunate to end up in 4th place on both occasions. In his three Olympic appearances, he qualified for the final in Tokyo. His attempt at Olympic glory ended after a single jump however, having to forfeit further attempts due to injury. After his athletic career, Jaskólski, an economist, remained active in track and field as a coach and judge.

Personal Best: TJ – 16.76 (1966).
