Biografie

Frank Castleman, of Colgate and the Greater New York Irish AA, gave Harry Hillman, one of the outstanding hurdlers of the time, a good race in the 200 m hurdles at the Olympics. The event was run as a straight final with no heats, and Castleman, who would win the IC4A 220 y hurdles in 1905-06, finished little more than a yard behind Hillman. Castleman also finished second in the IC4A 120 y hurdles for three straight years (1904-06), losing each time to a different winner. Castleman was a three-letter man at Colgate and was known as one of their greatest football players. After a short stint coaching at Colorado, he settled in Columbus, Ohio, where he became track coach and professor of physical education at Ohio State, from which he had obtained an M.D. degree in 1921.

Personal Bests: 100 – unknown; 110H – 15.8y (1900).
