Everett Ellis was a top hurdler at Syracuse University. At the 1920 AAU/Olympic Trials he did not make the final of the 110 hurdles so his coach entered him in the decathlon at the last minute. Ellis finished sixth in the 1920 AAU decathlon, which doubled as the Olympic Trials that year, and that qualified him for the Olympic team, when Everett Bradley and Robert LeGendre, who finished ahead of him, opted to compete in the pentathlon at Antwerpen. Ellis did not finish the Olympic decathlon. Those are the only two known decathlons in which he competed.
Personal Best: Dec – 5638 (1920).
