Biografie

Eizo Kenmotsu competed in three Olympics and was a member of the gold medal winning team each time. In addition he also won six individual medals including a silver in all-around 1972. Kenmotsu also medaled in four World Championships, beginning in 1970 when he won gold in all-around, horizonal bar, and with the team as well as silver on parallel bars, floor, and pommelled horse. In 1974 he won gold on parallel bars and with the team as well as bronze in all-around, horizonal bar, and pommelled horse followed in 1978 by gold on parallel bars and with the team as well as silver all-around and finally in 1979 winning a silver medal with the team. In total he won ten gold medals in major events.

After his retirement Kenmotsu became a top coach and brought several Japanese gymnasts to world class. He was later sports director of the Nippon Sports Science University and vice president of the Japan Gymnastics Association. In 2006 he was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
