Biografie

Antonio McKay won gold medals in the 4x400 relay at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, adding a bronze medal in the 400 in 1984. He also won individual 400 golds at the 1986 Goodwill Games and the 1987 and 1989 World Indoor Championships. McKay added another relay gold medal at the 1987 World Championships, where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 400. His final international appearance came in 1991 at the World Indoors, where he won a silver in the 4x400.

McKay ran in college at Georgia Tech, where he was NCAA Champion in the 400, both indoors and outdoors in 1984. In 1989 McKay became a member of the New York Athletic Club, the first black athlete to compete for the club which had historically discriminated against blacks and Jews. He later became a high school track coach in Georgia. After the murder of his sister, McKay raised her two sons on his own.
