Antal Hajba competed in Canadian doubles canoeing at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, just missing a medal with a fourth-place finish. His greatest sporting achievement came in 1966 when he won the World Championships in the Canadian singles 10,000 metre event. As a youth Hajba started in sports as a wrestler, but started in canoeing in an attempt to woo a girl who wanted to try that sport. Hajba later became a coach of canoeing in Hungary.
