Anatoly Olizarenko competed for the Soviet Union at the 1964 Olympics in the road race and team time trial, placing fifth in the latter. Olizarenko had become known in Eastern Europe cycling circles in 1960 when he was third at the Tour of Poland and placed ninth in the Peace Race. He repeated that finish at the Peace Race in 1963, also finishing 17th that year at the Tour de l’Avenir, and winning his only major international medal in 1963, a bronze at the World Championships in the amateur team time trial. Olizarenko also competed in the team time trials at Worlds in 1965-66, but with less success. His career ended after an appearance in the 1966 Peace Race, in which he placed 54th.
