Aman Sehrawat won the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the men’s 57kg freestyle division. He has also been an U23 World Champion, an Asian Champion and a bronze medal winner at the Asian Games, making him one of the most accomplished Indian wrestlers in recent times.
On his Olympic debut at Paris 2024, Aman Sehrawat became the youngest Indian medal winner at the Summer Games. At the age of 21 years and 24 days, he bettered PV Sindhu’s record of 21 years, one month and 14 days when she bagged the silver medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Born on July 16, 2003, in Birohar, Haryana, Aman Sehrawat was introduced to wrestling at a very young age. He initially practised mud wrestling (kushti) in his home town but was inspired by Sushil Kumar's silver medal at London 2012 to take up Olympic wrestling.
Sehrawat convinced his father about wanting to enrol at the prestigious Chhatrasal Stadium - one of India’s best wrestling schools. India’s Olympic medallists Sushil Kumar, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Bajrang Punia and Yogeshwar Dutt were all trained at the Chhatrasal.
