Roy Welton finished ninth in the 1908 Boston Marathon, which qualified him for the Olympic Team. He led the race thru 16 miles, breaking records at every checkpoint, but hit the wall and had to hold on to finish ninth. Welton was New England 5-mile champion in 1907. He started work with F. W. McLanathan Company, but later became President of the Wheeler Insulated Wire Company, retiring in 1952.
