Biografie

Alfred Swahn was the son of Oscar Swahn, who holds the record as the oldest medalist and gold medalist in Olympic history. Together, father and son competed for Sweden at the 1908, 1912, and 1920 Olympic Games. Alfred also competed again in 1924. Alfred won nine Olympic medals, with three golds. He specialized in the running deer events and was certainly helped by the proliferation of shooting events on the Olympic program, especially team events, in the era in which he competed. His Olympic medals were as follows: 1908: Running deer shooting (single shot team) (1). 1912: Running deer shooting (single shot) (1); Running deer shooting (single shot team) (1). 1920: Running deer shooting (single shot) (2); Running deer shooting (double shot team) (2); Trap shooting (team) (3). 1924: Running deer shooting (single shot team) (2); Running deer shooting (double shot) (3); Running deer shooting (double shot team) (3). All his medals were stolen in 1996, when they were on display at the Globe during an exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Olympic Games. Alf ran a grocery store in Stockholm.
