Biografie

Alf Andersen was the 1928 Olympic ski jumping champion and won a bronze medal at the 1935 World Championships in Vysoke Tatry, but he was never able to win a medal at the national championships. He appeared at Holmenkollen for the first time in 1924, when he was fourth in the junior class in Nordic Combined, the only event available for ski jumpers until 1933. The following year he won the junior class at Holmenkollen. Andersen earned a place on the Norwegian Olympic ski jumping team by producing a new hill record of 48 m in a selection competition before the games in St. Moritz, but his Olympic victory was a minor surprise for the Norwegians. Eight years later he made his best ever Norwegian Championship result by placing fifth in ski jumping.
