Steve McCrory was US flyweight amateur champion in 1982-83 and then won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympics. He was also Pan American Games bronze medalist in 1983. McCrory turned professional after the Olympics and fought his first pro fight again Jeff Hanna in October 1984, winning by TKO in 4. He retired after losing a decision in November 1991 against Stéphane Haccoune, finishing his pro career with a record of 30 wins (12 by KO), 5 losses, and 1 draw. McCrory fought for the IBF bantamweight title in July 1986 against Jeff Fenech but lost the fight. He won the WBC Continental Americas super bantamweight title in June 1987 against Mike Moreno, and lost a bout for the IBC super featherweight crown in November 1990 against Richard Savage. McCrory’s brother was Milt McCrory, who was once WBC welterweight champion. Steve McCrory died an early death after a prolonged illness.
