Ramon HOYOS VALLEJO

Ramón Hoyos competed in the road race at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics, although he also rode the team pursuit in 1956. His greatest accomplishment came at the 1955 Pan American Games, when he won the road race and Colombia to the team gold medal. Hoyos was a five-time champion at the Vuelta a Colombia, winning consecutively from 1953-56 and 1958. In 1955 he won 12 stages during the race. He also won the 1954 Tour of Puerto Rico. Hoyos became a sports reporter, later working for El Espectador.
