Nordic skier Helmut Böck was the German flagbearer at the 1952 Oslo Winter Olympics. He took part in the Nordic combined and the 18 km cross country but failed to finish in both events. At Cortina d’Ampezzo in 1956 he came 19th in the Nordic combined. His father Ludwig Böck also was an Olympian, participating in the 1928 St. Moritz Winter Olympics. Helmut was the German Nordic combined champion in 1955, and later co-ordinated the construction of the ski and biathlon stadium in Nesselwang and in 2007 was the president of Skiclub Nesselwang.
