السيرة الذاتية

Born in Saskatchewan but raised in Quebec, ice hockey forward Gina Kingsbury quickly discovered that she had an aptitude not only for bilingualism, but for hockey as well. She joined Team Canada in the under-22 division in 1999 and played for St. Lawrence University's Skating Saints from 2000-2004. She attended her first World Championship in 2001, where the Canadian team won gold, and captured gold twice more (2004 and 2007) and silver three times (2005, 2008 and 2009). In 2004, after graduating with a degree in psychology, she joined the Montreal Axion of the National Women's Hockey League and played one season with them before her 2006 Olympic début, where the Canadian women's team won the gold medal in the ice hockey tournament. She played in all five games, but scored no goals. After the tournament she joined the Western Women's Hockey League as a member of the Calgary Oval X-Treme and won the National Women's Championships at the end of the 2006-2007 season. After earning a second Olympic gold medal in 2010 she retired from international competition, alongside Becky Kellar, Carla MacLeod, and Colleen Sostorics, and took up a role as an assistant coach at the Okanagan Hockey Academy in British Columbia.
