Edward Carr twice competed for the US at the Olympics as a distance runner. He competed for the Xavier AA. He ran the marathon in 1904 and the 5-mile and steeplechase in 1908. His only other known marathon was a New Years’ Day race in 1909, starting at Yonkers, New York, which began at a temperature of -18° C. (0° F.). Carr finished fourth in 3-00:45.8, as Olympian Robert Fowler won. Carr worked in Brooklyn as a salesman.
