السيرة الذاتية

Charles Burroughs ran for the University of Chicago. It is often reported that he ran 9.8 in the Chicago AA vs. New York AC meet in 1898, which would have equaled the world record, but the details are murky, and the mark is not usually accepted as a world record. Burroughs won the sprint double (100/200) three times at the Western AAU Championships. After graduating from Chicago in 1899, he accepted a fellowship for graduate study at the University of Pennsylvania. While studying for his fellowship in Paris, he contracted typhoid fever and died only a few days later.

Personal Best: 100y – 9.8 (1898); 220y – 22.0 (1898).
