السيرة الذاتية

C. J. Hunter was a shot putter who finished seventh at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Hunter was twice a medalist at the World Championships, winning gold in 1999 and bronze in 1997. He also won gold at the 1995 Pan American Games and a bronze at the 1991 Pan Ams, although Hunter won only one US Championships, that in 1994. Hunter threw in college at Penn State, placing second at the NCAA Meet in 1990.

Hunter had four runner-up finishes at the US Nationals, including 2000, which put him on the team for the Sydney Olympics. However, he did not compete at Sydney. At first, it was announced as due to recent surgery, which he had undergone, but it was then revealed that he tested positive for nandrolone (an anabolic steroid) earlier in the summer at the Bislett Games.

Hunter coached at the University of North Carolina, starting in 1998. There he met Marion Jones and they married shortly thereafter, only to divorce in 2002. Both Jones and Hunter were implicated in the BALCO Scandal which involved many professional and Olympic athletes who were accused of using performance enhancing drugs obtained from the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO).
