A Cambridge blue (1906-08) at 440 y and 880 y, Arthur Anderson was later successful as a sprinter, reaching the final of the AAA 220 y in 1912 and the second of both sprints at the Stockholm Olympics. In World War I he was awarded the DSO and MC while serving with the KOSB. Although over 50, he rejoined the Colours on the outbreak of World War II and remained on the active list until 1942. His brother, Laurie, also competed at the 1912 Olympics.
