Anders Peter Nielsen participated in four Olympic Games. At Paris in 1900, he won three silver medals in rifle disciplines. At the 1920 Olympics in Antwerpen, Nielsen won a team gold in standing military rifle, by which time he was 53-years-old. Nielsen also competed again four years later in Paris, together with his son Arne. The father defeated his son in the small-bore rifle event, as they placed 4th and 12th, respectively.
