Vladimir MALAKHOV

Vladimir Malakhov began his hockey career in 1986 with Spartak Moskva and in 1988 he joined CSKA Moskva, playing there until 1992. With CSKA Moskva Malakhov won a Soviet title in 1989 and European Champions Cup titles in 1989 and 1990. In 1992 Malakhov joined the NHL New York Islanders, playing there until 1995. From 1995-2000 Malakhov played with the Montreal Canadiens, before playing half a season with the New Jersey Devils in 2000, winning a Stanley Cup with them. From 2000-04 Malakhov played with the New York Rangers and finished his career by playing with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2004, and back with the Devils in 2005. Internationally, besides his Olympic medals, Malakhov won a 1990 World title and a 1991 European title. He also won a silver medal at the 1990 European Championships and bronzes at the 1991 World Championships and 1996 World Cup. In 1990 Malakhov won gold at the Goodwill Games and also played for Russia at the 1992 World Championships.
