Robert Rogers rowed for the University of Washington, graduating in 1955. He later represented the Lake Washington Rowing Club. Rogers won a gold medal in coxless pairs at the 1959 Pan American Games with Ted Frost. Rogers and Frost won the coxless pairs at the 1959-60 National Association of Amateur Oarsmen (NAAO) meet, which qualified them for the 1959 Pan Ams and the 1960 Olympics.
Rogers continued to row throughout his life, winning pairs and fours in National age group regattas, and trained on a rowing machine up to the day he died. His career was as an employee benefits consultant, initially for Aetna and then with his own business.
